Volunteer Opportunities
Board of Directors
We are looking for a few talented and conscientious volunteer board members to lead and strengthen our organization so we can continue to increase access and provide high quality outdoor programs for Oakland youth and families. If you can contribute your time, thoughtfulness, and leadership on a monthly basis to nonprofit board service, and are interested in exploring this opportunity, let’s talk!
At this time, we’re especially looking for folks with finance/banking/business/ health care/government affairs backgrounds, strategic planning experience, folks living in Oakland Council Districts 3, 5, 6, & 7 and individuals of color.

Committee Service
Want to dive into a specific aspect of our organization’s health? A volunteer committee may be just the thing for you! Committee membership is less time intensive than board service and the work is more focused on a single topic.
Our current committees that we are recruiting volunteers for are: Finance, Development & Fundraising, Facilities, and Governance & Board Development.

Memorial Day Work Weekend
Every Memorial Day, friends and supporters of Oakland Feather River Camp put on their work gloves and spend all or part of their holiday weekend volunteering to help open camp for the coming season. There are many projects to do to wake up camp from the winter and get things ready for the summer.
Whether you are a long-time OFRC Family Camper or have never been to camp, volunteers of all ages (especially energetic teenagers) are welcome!

Fundraising Event Assistance
Typically, we host several fundraising events each year, both large and small. Do you like throwing parties, helping set up and take down events, or cooking for large groups of people? Please reach out about assisting with future events!
Promoting Our Programs
Someone once said that OFRC was one of Oakland’s best kept secrets. That’s a notion we are trying to change! During the non-summer months, we are a lean, small staff and rely on volunteers to assist with dropping off promotional materials at local Recreation Centers and Schools, as well as helping out at Summer Camp Promotional Fairs.
Other Ideas?
Do you have a specific skill, experience, or connection you’d like to share with camp? The beautiful thing about OFRC is that we can utilize virtually any skill toward our nonprofit mission. We’d love to hear your ideas!
