Camperships are camp scholarships, our financial assistance program for Family Camp. Please read the Rules and Conditions, then follow the steps below to apply.

Rules and Conditions

  • Family Camp Camperships are only available to Oakland residents.
  • We provide up to 100% of the total cost. Camperships are determined by availability of OFRC funds and family need.
  • All Campership information will be held in confidence with OFRC Administrative staff.
  • Recipients may be asked to provide anonymous feedback on the Campership program.
  • Camperships cannot be combined with special promotions or discounts.
  • Surcharges for electricity, maintenance fee, etc. are not covered by Camperships.

How to Apply

  1. Choose the datesReview our Family Camp Session Schedule and choose the dates you would like to attend (the month, week, and session A, B, or C).
  2. Calculate the total cost of attending campDetermine the cost per camper by age for the 7-day/6-night (Session A) rates or 4-day/3-night (Session B/C) rates, then add those rates to calculate the total cost. See the rates.
  3. Calculate your needDetermine how much your family can afford, then calculate the amount of financial assistance you will request.
  4. Tell us how much and whyType a “Campership Application Letter” answering these questions (only one letter is required per household):
    1. How much ($) are you requesting for a Campership?
    2. Why do you want to attend Oakland Family Camp this summer? (1–3 sentence limit)
  5. Apply onlineComplete the online “2027 Campership Application.” Log into your CampBrain account to access your online registration portal. If you don’t have a CampBrain account yet, sign up here. On the CampBrain portal, fill out the online 2027 Campership Application.
  6. Email your Campership Application LetterOnce you submit your application, email a copy of your letter to .

After You Apply

Once we receive your family’s 1) application and 2) request letter, OFRC will confirm receipt. We will review your materials and determine the level of financial assistance provided to your family, if any. We will do our best to respond promptly, within two weeks of your application.

DepositIf you are awarded a Campership, a deposit of 25% of your total camp fees is due within two weeks of receiving your award.
Remaining balanceDue by Monday, May 10, 2027 for all June and July Family Camp sessions, and by July 26, 2027 for Labor Day Weekend Camp.
